ARA 290 has been studied in various preclinical models and human clinical trials, focusing on conditions involving tissue damage, inflammation, and neuropathy.

• Neuropathic Pain: It has shown promise in treating chronic neuropathic pain, especially in patients with small fibre neuropathy associated with conditions like sarcoidosis and type 2 diabetes.
• Metabolic Control: Clinical studies have shown that subjects receiving ARA 290 exhibited improvements in metrics like hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and lipid profiles.
• Nerve Fiber Regeneration: In patients with small fibre neuropathy, ARA 290 treatment was associated with a significant increase in corneal nerve fibre density (CNFD), an objective measure of nerve repair.
• Neuroprotection: Preclinical studies suggest it offers neuroprotective action against cerebral ischemic injury and potentially helps in reducing amyloid-beta burden in early-stage Alzheimer’s disease models.
• Diabetic Macular Edema: It is also being investigated in phase II trials for the treatment of diabetic macular edema.
